We are delighted to welcome the Reverend Jon Barwood as our new vicar.
Bishop Rachel, in consultation with Archdeacon Katrina, Craig, Dana and parish reps, has agreed to appoint Rev’d Jon Barwood as Interim Team Vicar working in the Vale and Cotswold Edge Team Ministry from 1st October for a 12 month period. Jon has served a curacy on the Isle of Man and has recently re-located to Bourton on the Water and has been serving in ministry in parts of the North Cotswold Deanery. Jon will be working in the Team (mainly in the northern group of parishes) four and a half days a week – and is looking forward to joining you all. This appointment is subject to the usual HR procedures, which are underway. Please do pray for Jon and Michelle at this exciting time. Jon trained for ministry at the All Saints Centre for Mission and Ministry in the northwest of England, while living with his family on the Isle of Man. He served as a self-supporting curate in Arbory and Castletown alongside working as Head of Compliance for a financial services firm, and before that as an Independent Financial Adviser. Jon and his wife Michelle relocated to Bourton-on-the-Water last year with their son Henry. Jon says of his appointment… “I am really looking forward to joining the team in the VaCE and for the opportunity to minister to the different communities in the north of the benefice. My family and I are very much enjoying our new life in the North Cotswolds. It’s an area we know well, as we have family living here and have been frequent visitors over the last thirty years. I spent my curacy amidst rural communities on the Isle of Man, and I feel called to continue ministering in a rural context, where I value the strong sense of community, values, history and place. My family and I are excited by what God’s got in store for this next chapter of our lives, and we very much looking forward to getting to know you over the coming months. So please do introduce yourself to us when you see us. Blessings, Reverend Jon” |
Church Services At St. Peter's, Pebworth
The Bells of St Peter’s
St Peter's Church has a beautiful light ring of ten bells (11cwt tenor) which is unusual for a small rural church. The ringing chamber is on a balcony at the west end of the church and allows the congregation and visitors the opportunity to see this ancient art in action.
Mostly a Perpendicular 15th century building but there are traces of an earlier 13th century church. Pebworth is the most easterly village in Worcestershire, having been transferred from Gloucestershire in 1931. (Diocese of Gloucester)
St Peter's is usually open during daylight hours.
