Many congratulations to the hardworking Pebworth in Bloom volunteers who are celebrating yet another Gold Award in the 2021 RHS campaign.
Despite lockdowns, social distancing and all the traditional events having to be cancelled the group continued to maintain the public areas of the village, to bring colour at a depressing time with fabulous floral displays, and to organise competitors for every age group. This is the 7th Gold Award in a row in the 10 years since the group was set up. Fabulous work everyone!
Pebworth volunteers joined the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign 6 years ago.
With its emphasis on horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation the campaign has resulted in the transformation of 'grot spots', the enhancement of the village with floral displays and verges covered in thousands of spring bulbs; all planted by willing volunteers. We have numerous initiatives to encourage wildlife, with community events ranging from a 'Going Green at All Things Wild' talk, a Halloween pumpkin carving party, a scarecrow competition to coincide with the NGS Open gardens to the W.I. Annual litter pick, the lighting of the Christmas tree and footpath and welly walks!
There is a team of litter pickers who patrol weekly and we have a Thursday or Saturday maintenance crew who are always preparing the village for the Judges visit in the summer - Do get in touch if you'd like to help us
We run a number of events throughout the year so keep and eye on the calendar and the Pebworth Piper for updates
SEPT 2019
ORGANISERS of Pebworth in Bloom are celebrating after scooping a top honour at the recent Heart of England in Bloom awards. As well as scooping a gold award and being judged best in the village category, Pebworth has been asked to represent the six counties of Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Stafford-shire, Shropshire, Here-fordshire and Gloucestershire in the RHS UK finals in 2020. This remarkable result was topped by the chairman’s award for Outstanding Achievement. Speaking after the awards held near Rugby, Roger Bache, chair of Heart of England in Bloom, praised the many ‘enchanting’ front gardens, the superb attention to grass maintenance and the massive turnout at the village hall on judging day. Mr Bache added: “Pebworth in Bloom built a legacy for future generations with conservation and preservation projects such as bird and bat boxes and hedgehog homes being installed, ancient trees being pollarded to ensure their survival and sustainable and sympathetic planting. “Pebworth in Bloom are truly ‘gold-winning legacy-makers’.
