Welcome to Pebworth and District WI Our branch of the largest women’s organisation in the UK was formed in 1951 and, 72 years later it continues to thrive with approximately 40 members of all ages. Our 2024/2025 Programme
April 3rd Learn more about the hero of Trafalgar, Horatio Nelson and his love affair with Lady Hamilton. On 5th April we will host the group quiz and on 25th April we will enjoy “Art” at the Bearpit Theatre, Stratford. May 1st Anne Marie Lambert returns to demonstrate vegan and vegetarian cookery from store cupboard ingredients. Declutter your shelves to donate to the book bonanza ( and probably buy more !) June 5th Join us in the garden of Pebworth House, the home of Charlotte Foskett for Antiques Roadshow with Steve Bruce, local auctioneer. Enjoy some Pimms and bring along something for him to value Our delegate will attend the national AGM via zoom and there will be a social skittles evening at the Masons Arms. July 3rd Discover more about the last working watermill in Warwickshire from the owner Carl July 12th group outing by coach to David Austen Roses. An evening visit with guests to Charlecote Mill, date to be arranged. We will be collecting for Meon Vale foodbank No meeting in August Sun 1st Sept . We will be providing teas at Party in the Park Sept 4th Sarah Davis will demonstrate the art of stained glass making Oct 2nd Our WI A.G.M. and time to elect a new committee before we hear from our invited speaker (to be confirmed) Nov 6th Graham Sutherland will introduce us to “Wicked and Wilful Women” On 11th Nov, Remembrance Day we will lay a WI wreath at the memorial. Dec 4th “From Austerity to Prosperity”. Paul Harding from “Discover History” will remind us of how Christmas was celebrated in homes in 1950s and 60s. On the 7th there will be a Group Carol Service at Childswickham and later in month a Christmas wreath making workshop with Sue Jordan on Dec 10th. 2025 Jan 10th Toast the New Year with fizz, fun and games Feb 5th Who can resist chocolate ? Learn more about its manufacture, and sample some of their treats from Henley Chocolates. March 1st Dr Gillian White returns to present “Gloriana’s Gowns” – bespoke talk about Queen Elizabeth 1st’s gowns , including a recently discovered one. Our annual parish litter-pick is on Sat 3rd March. |
